IN THE LOOP?

It is my desire to be a resource to you in any way that I can. I believe an important part of family ministry is my partnership with parents. I want to help keep you in the loop on not only what is going on, but also what is being taught. This will give you an opportunity to better engage with your students about what they are learning and how they are learning to apply God’s Word to their lives.

  • High School Sunday School: We are currently in a series called: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. One of the goals of this series is to help students realize that the Bible is not a random and disjointed collection of stories, but rather from the beginning to the end it tells a single and unified story of God’s Gospel. This Fall we will be starting Part V of this study, God the Revealer and God the Pursuer, which will cover Kings and Prophets. This week we will examine the calling of Jeremiah.

This week we will continue in the book of Isaiah to see the promise of the coming Messiah.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This Sunday the Middle School will continue in the book of Isaiah to see the promise of the coming Messiah.
  • Conversations: This Fall the High School and Middle School will be going through a series called, The Essentials of the Faith & The Meaning of Membership. This is a class designed to help teach, refresh, and equip students in their faith and also what it means and looks like to be a member of a church. This week we will be focusing on the Sacraments.

Good Morning Parents,

I know this is a lengthy introduction to an email and that you will be tempted to not read this!!

But if your student is going to the discipleship retreat this week PLEASE READ the top section of the email!!!! (If not, feel free to skip down to this Week’s Schedule).

One of the sessions that we will be doing on the High School Discipleship Retreat is on spiritual gifts and serving in the church with those gifts. I am asking students to take the online RESHAPE assessments (these are spiritual gift assessments) BEFORE they come on Friday!!!

Please, please, please encourage and help your student complete these assessments. This will greatly enhance our time together and make that session much more meaningful for your student.

I also believe that for many of your students these assessments will bring excitement to see how God has uniquely gifted them and how they can be using their gifts in the church.

I have passed out flyers multiple times to your students the past couple of weeks with instructions for ReShape. But in case they lost them, all they need to do is to go to gashland.org/reshape. There are five assessments that your students will need to fill out. It will be well worth it! Please partner with me in encouraging and helping your student do this!

Filling this out is not a requirement to come on the retreat. I understand that some students may have a crazy busy week and be unable to complete this by Friday. That is completely okay. I will have a shorter spiritual gifts test that they can take during that session. So please have your student come whether or not they do the ReShape assessments. However, your students will get the most out of this experience if they do the ReShape assessments before they come!

Thank you so much! I am very excited about this discipleship retreat. I think the four sessions that we are doing (Studying the Word, Meditating on the Word, Praying, and Spiritual Gifts & Serving in the church) throughout the retreat have the ability to make a big impact in the life of your student as it practically equips them as a disciple of Christ. Please be praying for this event and your student that God would use this retreat to work in their lives in a mighty way!
