IN THE LOOP?

It is my desire to be a resource to you in any way that I can. I believe an important part of family ministry is my partnership with parents. I want to help keep you in the loop on not only what is going on, but also what is being taught. This will give you an opportunity to better engage with your students about what they are learning and how they are learning to apply God’s Word to their lives.

  • High School Sunday School: We are currently in a series called: The Greatest Story Ever ToldA Journey from Genesis to Revelation. One of the goals of this series is to help students realize that the Bible is not a random and disjointed collection of stories, but rather from the beginning to the end it tells a single and unified story of God’s Gospel. This Winter we are starting Part VI of this study, God the Sustainer and God the Provider, which will cover Daniel, Ezra, Esther, Nehemiah, & Malachi. This week we will examine the story of Esther Part II.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This Sunday the Middle School will take a look at Nehemiah Part I.
  • High School Conversations: The High School Students are currently in a series called: Becoming Men & Women of God. In this series we will examine, compare, and contrast what our culture teaches on what it means to be a man or woman with what the Bible teaches. We will get into topics like image, purity, lust, identity, worth, responsibility, respect, guy talk, girl talk, competition, dating, and marriage. This class will be co-taught by Lacey and myself. Each week we will spend some time together in teaching and discussion and then break off into small groups. Lacey will lead a small group discussion with the ladies while I lead a small group discussion with the guys.
  • Middle School Conversations: The Middle School is going through a series on the attributes of God. This teaching will be led by Ishi Stackpole and Ed and Casey Staats will help out as volunteers.

Weekly Update | GEPC Student Ministries | February 21, 2017

Good afternoon parents!

I have one important announcement concerning the High School Service Trip this Summer:

  • I was informed today that the organization that the High School Summer Service Trip was going to work with, The Joplin Promise, has ceased operations. Similar to many non-profits, they were struggling with finances and are ending their ministry because of a lack of financial support. This is as much of a surprise to me as I am sure it is to you. Because of this, I will not be collecting any more deposits for the summer trip temporarily.
  • It is my plan to find another service trip that is similar to what we would have done in Joplin and that is also occurring during the same week in June for around the same cost. I will hopefully send you an email in the next couple of days with the updated plan for the summer trip.

THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE:

  • Conversations
    • Come join on us on Wednesday night (2/22) for Conversations. We will have a church-wide meal from 6:00pm-6:30pm. Then High School and Middle School will break off for a time of worship and teaching from 6:30-7:45pm.

  • First Fridays on 3/3

This Fall we will be starting Part V of this study, God the Revealer and God the Pursuer, which will cover Kings and Prophets. This week we will examine Daniel 3 and the fiery furnace.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This Sunday the Middle School will take a look at Daniel 5 and the Handwriting on the Wall.
  • High School Conversations: The High School Students will be starting a new series called: Becoming Men & Women of God.
  • Middle School Conversations: The Middle School will be starting a new series on the attributes of God. This teaching will be led by Ishi Stackpole and Ed and Casey Staats will help out as volunteers.
