IN THE LOOP?

It is my desire to be a resource to you in any way that I can. I believe an important part of family ministry is my partnership with parents. I want to help keep you in the loop on not only what is going on, but also what is being taught. This will give you an opportunity to better engage with your students about what they are learning and how they are learning to apply God’s Word to their lives.

  • High School Sunday School: We are currently in a series called: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. One of the goals of this series is to help students realize that the Bible is not a random and disjointed collection of stories, but rather from the beginning to the end it tells a single and unified story of God’s Gospel. This spring we will be starting Part III of this study, God the Savior and God the Judge, which will cover Numbers, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, and 1 Samuel. This Sunday we will be taking a look at Numbers 21 and the bronze serpent.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This week they will be taking a look at Leviticus 1-3 and Atonement Sacrifices Part I.
  • High School Connect: For Connect, the High School is going through a series on Wednesday nights called “The Saving Work of Christ.” In this series we will take a closer look at the very thing that we need most: Salvation. We will explore biblically how we are saved through the work of Christ by taking an in depth look at Christ’s Incarnation, Sinless life, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, Session, Pentecost, Intercession, and Second Coming. The goal of this series is to help students have a better understanding of salvation, the finished work of Christ, and how Christ’s work is sufficient for our salvation because it is my conviction that a careful examination of the saving work of Christ will lead students to worship and adoration of their Savior. This is the last week of this series, as we will be specifically looking at Christ’s Second Coming.
  • Middle School Connect: For Connect the Middle School will be going through a new series on Wednesday nights called “Explore: A pre-confirmation class,” which will be taught by Dave Wiersma. The goal of this class is to explore the various aspects of our faith, what it means to be a Christian, and what a Christian believes. This class is not confirmation. This class is simply to help our Middle School students think more intentionally about the fundamentals of the faith and to supplement the confirmation process. I know many of you may be wondering though when confirmation will take place. The answer is that we are currently doing a complete overhaul of the confirmation process and the plan is to unveil it in the Fall of 2016. If you have any questions or concerns about the confirmation process, please feel free to call or send me an email.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to email or call me!

Blessings,

This winter we will be starting Part II of this study, God the Redeemer, which will cover Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. This Sunday we will be entering into the book of Leviticus and taking a look at atonement sacrifices.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This week they will be taking a look at Exodus 32 and the sin of idolatry.
  • High School Connect:For Connect, the High School will be going through a new series on Wednesday nights called “The Saving Work of Christ.” In this series we will take a closer look at the very thing that we need most: Salvation. This week we will be specifically looking at Christ’s ascension.

Connect Student Ministry

Good Afternoon Parents! I hope this email finds you well! I have a lot of important new information for you today! So please read!

I wanted to start with some important notes. First of all, as it is the beginning of the year, I need parents to sign an annual waiver that releases your students for all activities and transportation for youth events throughout the year of 2016. This way we do not have to have you all sign a waiver for every activity that we do. I will be passing these out to your students the next couple of weeks on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Please be sure to sign it and turn it in to me asap so that your students can participate in any and all student ministry activities. (I will need this signed waiver before your student can do the Secret Shopper Scavenger Hunt or Winter Jam.) If you would like a digital copy (in case your student loses the hard copy or forgets to give it to you) please send me an email and I would be happy to email you a digital copy of the annual waiver. Thanks!

    • About Reformed Youth Ministries: I am very excited about going to this Reformed Youth Ministries conference. Their mission is to serve the church in reaching youth for Christ and equipping them to serve. One way they fulfill that mission is by providing high school conferences that are Word Driven, God Centered and Gospel Focused. Reformed Youth Ministries is highly recommended by our denomination, the EPC, and many churches in our denomination attend RYM.
    • Topic of the Conference: The topic for this conference is “The Church.” We will come together to seek to answer questions about the church, explore the wonder of God’s love for his church, and find out not only why the church is important to your life, but also why you are important to it. I believe this topic is very important for our students as it will compliment a new discipleship initiative that Gashland will be unveiling for our children and youth ministries in the Fall of 2016.

This winter we will be starting Part II of this study, God the Redeemer, which will cover Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. This Sunday we will be taking a look at Exodus 19-20 and the Ten Commandments part I.
  • Middle School Sunday School: The Middle School is going through the same series as the High School on Sunday Mornings: The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Journey from Genesis to Revelation. This week they will be taking a look at Exodus 6-7 and the sending of the Plagues.
  • High School Connect:For Connect, the High School will be going through a new series on Wednesday nights called “The Saving Work of Christ.” In this series we will take a closer look at the very thing that we need most: Salvation. We will explore biblically how we are saved through the work of Christ by taking an in depth look at Christ’s Incarnation, Sinless life, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, Session, Pentecost, Intercession, and Second Coming. The goal of this series is to lead students to worship and adore their savior by helping them have a better understanding of salvation, the finished work of Christ, and how Christ’s work is sufficient for our salvation.

Blessings,
