    The first five questions originate from our Gashland MD study from the fall of 2016 and summer of 2017. Gashland MD is a process of discipleship that we have used to categorize the different kinds of care the church should administer to the disciple of Jesus Christ.

  • Initial Care

  • Initial Care is the first care we give to the spiritually dying. Often called evangelism, it is the role of the Christian to seek the lost and share the Gospel with them.

  • Critical Care

  • Critical Care is the care we administer to those who are hurting. This is often called Mercy Ministry. It is the role of the church to minister to those who find themselves in this difficulty. The church is responsible for helping people both in the church and those outside of it.

  • Nourishing Care

  • Nourishing Care is the general but essential care we administer to the Christian disciple. This predominantly includes teaching the disciple to be nourished on the Word of God. This includes the Christian Education ministry of the church, the sermons, Bible studies, etc.

  • Strengthening Care

  • Strengthening Care is when we encourage Christians within the church to go outside of their comfort zones, to be stretched in areas of faith. Depending on the maturity of the disciple, this includes a variety of things like: Repentance; Conflict Resolution; Areas of Reconciliation; Short Term Mission Trips; Participation In the Life of the Church; Service Projects; etc.

  • Future Care

  • Future Care is when we create disciples who are creating disciples. It is when we consider the future care of God's church. Such care occurs in generational mentoring, involving uninvolved members in ministries and even equipping people for work in ministry and the mission field.
